The Hidden Cart
My U-Haul boxes came today - at 9AM. Our apartment has a “delivery service” where they drop off your packages to your room, but (as usual) they were too lazy to do their rounds today. At 7PM, I went down to the front desk, to find two guys (employees are college students who get free rent) watching a movie and laughing hysterically. I timidly interrupted them, asking if they could check to see if my package was in the package room - one of them quickly snapped back at me saying, “check back tomorrow”. I insisted one of them checks since I’m going back home soon and need to pack up my stuff, so one of the guys sauntered over to the room. You’d imagine the box to be huge and heavy because it’s full of flattened cardboard boxes. The guy pushed it out of the room (because he himself couldn’t even carry it) and said, “here” and began walking away.
I’m a petite girl - there was no way I could carry that to my apartment if he couldn’t lift it himself. I asked him if he could possibly help me bring it up (since they’re SUPPOSED TO anyway) and he just handed me a huge hotel luggage cart and told me to leave my ID or cell phone with him until I brought the cart back. He then deserted me to resume watching the movie with his friend behind the front desk - so I walked away without giving him my ID/cell phone, taking the cart with me.
I angrily pushed the cart & box to my room, with some help from a security guard who offered himself :3. I’m usually a relatively patient and forgiving person who never retaliates, but this really pissed me off - so I hid the cart on another floor and never brought it back (I couldn’t find contact information to complain).
