Day 19:  Saturday, June 25, 2011  The Counter
Took my good friend out for a belated graduation dinner (and pre-pharmacy school celebration?).  She’s been craving burgers ever since finals week, so we ate at a make-your-own gourmet burger restaurant.  I’m usually pretty jaded and uneasily phased by expen$ive burger joints.. but this was a pretty good place :)
Isn’t she cuteee :)  Best friend @ USC, hands down.

IUPAC?  What?  Thanks to my orgo 2 professor (who felt that testing IUPAC nomenclature was a waste of points), my IUPAC naming skills are limited.. here’s to cracking open my beloved book.

One of my side jobs in this lab is to transfer lines of fruit flies every two weeks.  The best part about this job is when I knock over fly viles into my lap and they swarm into my face.

Guess I’m driving myself out to the PCAT which is 141 miles from my house.  The Canada testing center is 80 miles closer but I don’t want to worry about crossing the border the morning of the exam..

Day 11:  Friday, June 17, 2011  Obsession #2
I know they’re bad for you - but I love them so much :(
In my junior year, two other students & I were selected to be awarded an “Honors” title to our biology course.  For one trimester, we were expected to devise our own research project and formally present our findings.  I tested the effects of Monster energy drinks, its effects on reaction time, its actual duration/half-life, etc, with a reaction time stick.  The results weren’t surprising, but the side-effects were awful, since I was to chug 3 Monster drinks (16 oz) in a 10-minute period after two weeks free of energy drinks (3 trials).

Day 10:  Thursday, June 16, 2011  The Hidden Cart
My U-Haul boxes came today - at 9AM.  Our apartment has a “delivery service” where they drop off your packages to your room, but (as usual) they were too lazy to do their rounds today.  At 7PM, I went down to the front desk, to find two guys (employees are college students who get free rent) watching a movie and laughing hysterically.  I timidly interrupted them, asking if they could check to see if my package was in the package room - one of them quickly snapped back at me saying, “check back tomorrow”.  I insisted one of them checks since I’m going back home soon and need to pack up my stuff, so one of the guys sauntered over to the room.  You’d imagine the box to be huge and heavy because it’s full of flattened cardboard boxes.  The guy pushed it out of the room (because he himself couldn’t even carry it) and said, “here” and began walking away.
I’m a petite girl - there was no way I could carry that to my apartment if he couldn’t lift it himself.  I asked him if he could possibly help me bring it up (since they’re SUPPOSED TO anyway) and he just handed me a huge hotel luggage cart and told me to leave my ID or cell phone with him until I brought the cart back.  He then deserted me to resume watching the movie with his friend behind the front desk - so I walked away without giving him my ID/cell phone, taking the cart with me.
I angrily pushed the cart & box to my room, with some help from a security guard who offered himself :3.  I’m usually a relatively patient and forgiving person who never retaliates, but this really pissed me off - so I hid the cart on another floor and never brought it back (I couldn’t find contact information to complain).

Day 9:  Wednesday, June 15, 2011  NEXON’s Dragon Nest
I got into Dragon Nest CBT, which started today.  I got this lanyard @ Nexon’s E3 booth ;D  I’m really enjoying the game thus far - and haven’t come across any bugs yet.  CB testers get a special “pioneer” title if they reach level 16 and login everyday during the 5-day testing period, which ends this Monday at 12PM PST.
